Yippee - it's James Norcliffe at Tuesday Poem

TuesdayPoem this week is a Christchurch poem by James Norcliffe read at a Gap Fillerevent - a way of using sites of demolished buildings post-earthquake to liftthe spirits of the locals. It is definitely uplifting - packed with Norcliffe'ssubversive, mischievous humour and a pod of podiatrists. Christchurch poetAndrew Bell is the editor.

Yippeeby James Norcliffe

Whenthe podiatrists escaped we immediately set up roadblocks. But they wereapparently wise to us and kept to the footpaths. Somewhat unfairly, too, theymust have been wearing orthotics with rich crepes soles, which allowed them, well after dark, to ripple right past our defences in a distinctly crepuscularmanner and make for the safety of the park.
