TheNew Zealand Society of Authors and Auckland Museum are delighted to announce the recipient of the NZSAAuckland Museum Library National Research Grant is Michelle Elvy (photo).

The grantswere offered for the first time in 2012 to provide an opportunity for threeselected writers to use the considerable facilities and resources of the Auckland Museum library in order to furtherdevelop a fiction or non-fiction project.
Judgingpanel convenor Graeme Lay said the applications were judged on both theliterary quality of the writing sample provided and the relevance of theAuckland Museum Library to the project.
'Michelle'sproject “Flashback: A New Zealand History in Micro Moments” impressed the selection committee with itsprofessionalism and originality. Her project also seemed well suited to the useof the resources housed in the Auckland Museum Library.’
Museum Librarian, Bruce Ralston, adds that the Libraryholds one of New Zealand ’smajor research collections and the breadth and depth of the historical recordis well suited to Michelle’s project and to the research of the other twograntees who are working on historical novels. The Library is available for use by thegeneral public, as well as academics and researchers.
