
She is currently the Ursula Bethell Writer inResidence at the University of Canterbury.
· Helen has won numerous awards, and her firstbook in ‘The Wall of Night’ series, The Heir of Night, won the SirJulius Vogel Award for Best Novel in 2011. She reviews books and interviews writers forWomen on Air, Plains 96.9 FM, in Christchurch.
Her books are published in the US, UK, Australiaand New Zealand. She also has translated editions in France and TheNetherlands.
Despite her evident success, the past year has beenchallenging for Helen as she worked completing The Gathering of the Lostwhile residing in the ‘East Side’ of Christchurch. The book was completed inthe midst of 10,000 plus earthquakes and major liquefaction – circumstances sheadmits she found difficult with a publishing deadline looming over her.
