eNews: Dutton Relaunches Guilt-Edged Mysteries As Digital Imprint

Dutton will join the digital imprintmovement later this summer by relaunching its Dutton Guilt-Edged Mysteries line, which publishedhardboiled and noir titles from 1947 to 1956, as an ebook-only venture. The newprogram, overseen by Dutton editor-in-chief Ben Sevier, will publish storiesand novellas ranging between 10,000 and 50,000 words on a monthly basis andwill launch with NPR news editor Krishnadev Calamur’s debut novella Murder inMumbai.
"The re-launch of Dutton Guilt-EdgedMysteries is a fitting tribute to Mickey Spillane, one of the 20th century’sbestselling and most beloved novelists," Sevier said in a statement. Thenew imprint is built to find fresh voices in crime fiction and publish themusing distinctly 21st century techniques." The imprint says it willpublish one title annually from Book Country's community of writers.
In other eNews, HarperOne is mining itsbacklist for digital shorts that will be priced at $1.99 under the HarperOne Selectsbanner.
